Summer 2011 Road Trip - parts 3 & 4

After Hollister, we made our way to Las Vegas where we stayed with Hans and Jody Zeller for a couple of days. The girls had such a fun time with their cousins.
We stopped at the Grand Canyon on the busiest day of the year for some quick sight seeing. "Awesome," the girls said.
Grandma loved sharing her Circle K memories with the grandkids

Eden and Tyler, just hanging out.

"Hey uncle Brian, want to play a game?" "Um, sure Eden."
There were lots of activities at the family reunion to keep most of the kids out of trouble.

A panorama shot would have better captured the size of the King reunion camp. Our tent is on the far left with the yellow roof.
The King family reunion got to participate in the Rico, Co 4th of July parade.

Story time for all the December 6th kids. Keala and Davis where were you?

Summer 2011 Road Trip - parts 1 & 2

The older kids had a blast on the tube.
The first leg of our mega-road-trip was to Utah. We went boating with aunts/uncles/cousins/Grandma/Popcorn.

The little kids simply had fun hanging out in the boat with Uncle Glenn.

Back at the house, cousins enjoyed being silly together ...

playing together ...

and ganging up on Popcorn.

The adults were worn out by all the energy the kids sapped from them.
The girls got to play with Addy too.

The second part of our trip took us to California, where we visited with friends in Sacramento, and then drove down to Hollister to visit with Ron and Roxanne.
We stopped at a gas station in Reno that had this little car the girls could ride in. It is the same one we took a picture of Eden in on move to Davis after BYU.
The girls were thrilled to visit with their friends, the Becks.
I'm not sure who has more reason to be afraid, the little girl or the big horses. Probably the Dad who's probably going to hear a request for a pony when it's birthday time.

The girls have learned how to care for the horses.

Eden loves helping her sisters ride horses too.

A day trip to the ocean gave the girls an opportunity to chase seagulls, collect seashells, and build sand castels.
Is there a better way to end a long day than to take a luxurious bubble bath?

June 2011 update

The summer of 2011 was the summer of the 13-year cicadas. There were millions of them. We all found them fascinating, in a gross sort of way. Evie was especially amazed by them and decided to adopt them as pets.

Emmy had fun with brownies.

Eden and her junior girl scout troop members earned their bronze star awards.

Sadly, Elise's friend, Lizzy, moved to Florida with her family. Elise had her over one last time for a play date.
  Lizzy will be greatly missed.

May 2011 update

We have a friend who is a member of the Bunraku Bay Japanese puppetry troupe. In May of 2011 they had a local performance to help raise funds for the victims of the tsunami. Our girls really enjoyed the entertainment.

Elise and her close friend (practically her twin) named Lizzy, had a little picnic on the deck.

Apparently someone taught Elise how to "Walk Like an Egyptian."
